Russian Imperial Badge of the State Militia during the reign of Emperor Alexander III -
2ndtype Gold four-bladed cross with a raised gold polished
border. The surface of the rays is matt. In the centre of the cross is a
raised circular medallion with a smooth surface and the raised cypher of
Emperor Nicholas I beneath the gold Imperial crown. The rays of the
cross, emanating from the central medallion, are practically touching.
On the edges of the rays is a gold border in the form of twisted rims.
On the horizontal rays are the raised inscriptions «3a» and «?»and on the vertical are
«B?py» and «????»,all
in raised gold lettering. Reference: V.Kempf.
