German WW2 ORIGINAL GERMAN WW2 LAPPLAND SHIELD
badge, 1944 This item depicted in the images below is an original German WW II "Lappland" campaign shield award. The "Lappland Shield" badge, which was worn by personnel awarded on the upper left sleeve, was issued to German soldiers who participated in the battles in Lappland (Scandinavia) in 1944 and 1945. The award was the last one introduced by the German army and is a so called "Frontfertigung", which means that the physical making was done by the Army Group, whose soldiers the shield was issued to, itself. Reference: Detlev Niemann in "Price Guide. Orders and decorations Germany", 2004, page 582, catalogue price is 500 EURO ($600 - five years ago !!!). Estimate price for that nice
